Greece is the word

Turkey is increasingly popular for those seeking a destination less developed with a laid back culture, which appears to be at the expense of bookings in Greece. Croatia is steady with their fixed number of boats and set number of marina berths carefully planned to meet the allowed number of charter tourists. Italy and the south of France have boats available and offer much of what they always have but I sense a new level of appreciation for traveling this region by boat. The stand out for value for 2012 is Greece.
What a great time to go to Greece with more room on the town quay and privacy in bays but there is a need for caution, Our friends in rural Greece are largely taking the world events in their stride and life goes on as normal, when you think about it they have been around for a long time. The charm of Greece is the feeling that nothing has changed much over the centuries, certainly not their attitude. If the Ottoman empire couldn't rattle them I don't see the locals taking much notice of bankers. Sail Connections is however taking the commercial reality seriously, restricting bookings to our list of preferred operators, all of whom have ownership interests outside of Greece and are not as exposed to the downturn which the smaller operators must be feeling. The sailing destinations of Greece are far from the troubles in Athens and should in no way affect a well planned sailing holiday. It is exciting to have such good availability this time of year as usually we are telling people what they can have which is not always what they want. I have no doubt that the boats will book for the 2012 season but right now people have been holding back and now is the time to book.
