About Yacht Charters in Croatia

The Croatian Coast with its 1180 islands is one of the most impressive coastlines in Europe.

Exploring this diverse two thousand kilometer coastline in one sailing holiday would be impossible! The only way to go on holiday in these islands is by boat in an area that most suits the experience you are seeking.

We suggest itineraries to cover the Croatian regions of Northern Adriatic, Kornati National Park and Southern Dalmatia Islands to experience the very best Croatia has on offer.  Some cities and towns are situated on Roman remains and all are rich in architecture, history and local character.

Croatia is a yachtsman’s paradise with lots of islands and harbours at convenient intervals. Cruising distances are short and so days are set at a leisurely pace. The spectacular coastline from Pula in the north to Dubrovnik in the south is characterised by quaint villages and historic towns set against a dramatic backdrop of mountains.  You’ll have a pleasant combination of mooring on town quays, in bays with quiet anchorages and in sophisticated marinas, where you can be assured of shelter and social diversion each evening.

Ashore there is usually a choice of restaurants and always a bar nearby to keep the local Pivo beer flowing. Colourful local markets provide an abundance of fresh fruits, fish, meat and vegetables so stocking your boat is interesting and easy.  Local specialities include Raznijici, pork kebab and Cevapicici, delicious spicy meatballs.  Pag island cheese and smoked Prsuit ham are popular starters and can all be washed down with some fine local wines.

Sail Connections provides unique opportunities for one-way itineraries. Embarking from Murter and sailing downwind to Dubrovnik allows you to weave your itinerary amongst the islands without having to double on your tracks, theoretically on a downwind sail.   Other starting points are Pula, Split and Dubrovnik.

The coast and islands of CROATIA are known as the “thousand islands” - a yachtsman’s paradise with plenty of good marinas and harbours at convenient intervals throughout the cruising area. The coastline is characterised by tiny ancient towns set against a dramatic backdrop of mountains.

Croatia Climate

The most popular times for a yacht charter in Croatia is in the summer months between May and September, when gentle prevailing northerly winds provide easy-going sailing. The best season for sailing in Croatia is in the early Mediterranean summer months of May and June, when the winds are light to moderate. In July and August, periods of calm prevail.   From September onwards, the winds strengthen with prolonged periods of the Bora (strong north wind) and the Sirocco (humid east-southeast wind).

Warm and dry summers and mild winters characterise the Dalmatian coast. Average temperatures during the yacht charter season range between about 22- 29.
