Yacht Charter FAQs

How long should I allow for a Caribbean sailing holiday?

The ideal length of a Caribbean sailing holiday depends on the destination and the amount of sailing you wish to undertake.

A seven-day charter works particularly well in compact island groups such as the British Virgin Islands, where many attractive anchorages are within a few hours' sailing of one another.

The Bahamas and Belize can also provide rewarding week-long itineraries when the cruising area is carefully selected.

Ten to fourteen days offers greater flexibility. There is more time to explore quieter anchorages, spend additional nights in favourite locations and adjust plans around weather conditions.

For the Leeward and Windward Islands, longer holidays are especially valuable because passages between islands can be substantial and some routes involve international borders.

It is generally better to explore a smaller area thoroughly than to spend too much of the holiday covering distance. Allowing time for swimming, snorkelling and going ashore is an important part of a successful Caribbean charter.
