Where do Bahamas sailing charter typically begin, and what about provisioning?
With the choice of two sailing regions in the Bahamas, you have two prospective charter base locations. Most Exumas charters begin in Nassau, while Great Abaco charters depart from Marsh Harbour. Both are easy to reach and equipped with well-stocked supermarkets and provisioning services, including online ordering and dockside delivery.
Nassau is the primary departure point for charters into the Exumas, offering direct international access and a full-service marina network. From here, you head southeast into the chain of cays stretching toward Georgetown if you have time to sail that far. Each anchorage offers something new, whether it’s swimming pigs, snorkelling caves or secluded beaches.Provisioning in the Exuma becomes more limited once you set off, so stocking up in Nassau is essential.
Great Abaco charters start from Marsh Harbour, the hub of the Sea of Abaco. This area features a compact loop of cays and communities, with easy hops between anchorages. Both bases have good provisioning, ground transport and accommodation options before and after your charter. In the Abacos you’ll find shops and markets on most of the larger cays, making top-ups easy.
We can also arrange starter packs or full provisioning services so your boat is ready to sail the moment you arrive. If you're chartering with a crew, we’ll coordinate provisioning with them based on your preferences and dietary needs.
