Yacht Charter FAQs

Which Croatian islands are best for families on sailing charter?

Croatia is a fantastic destination for family sailing holidays, with its sheltered waters, short passages, and welcoming island communities. Some of the most family-friendly islands are tightly grouped together convieniently between Split and Dubrovnic in the Dalmatian Islands.

  • Hvar (western bays): While Hvar Town is known for nightlife, the quieter coves around Stari Grad and Vrboska are perfect for families, with protected anchorages and easy shoreside access. This area is ideal for swimming, paddleboarding and other aquatic activities. The Pakleni Islands nearby Havar Town offer more secluded swimming spots just a short dinghy ride away.
  • Korčula: Known as a mini Dubrovnik, Korčula combines culture, calm anchorages, and safe swimming areas. Kids love the medieval walls, towers, and the tales of Marco Polo, who is said to have been born here. Parents appreciate the rich heritage and local cuisine. Nearby Lumbarda and its adjacent islets (Vrnik, Badija) are perfect for time at the beach, while bays for overnight stays abound.
  • Brač: The large island of Brač has several family-friendly stops including the charming town of Milna and the famous Zlatni Rat beach near Bol which is great for windsurfing and sandcastle building alike. Sutivan and Supetar, just across from the mainland at Split, offer welcoming waterfronts, small playgrounds and car-free promenades where kids can safely explore. nearby Šolta, often overlooked, is quiet, green and ideal for families who want a break from the crowds. The village of Maslinica is especially charming and child-friendly.
  • Vis: With a slower pace and clear waters, Vis is a great option for older children and teens interested in snorkelling, history, and exploring caves by dinghy. They'll love the famous Blue Cave on nearby Biševo.Once a military outpost, Vis has WWII bunkers, tunnels, and forts, all attractions for curious minds and educational detours ashore.
