Discover the Bay of Islands on 'Denim,' a 38ft Elliott 1150 Tourer monohull that redefines charter boat space with three double cabins and an open-plan saloon/galley. Experience seamless indoor-outdoor living, perfect for New Zealand conditions, offering comfort and stunning views on your charter adventure.
Step aboard Denim, a design in keeping with the Tourer (aka Deck Saloon) concept that redefines the modern yachting experience. Denim's wide hull form maximizes space and comfort, setting a new standard for charter adventures. Denim was launched in 2025 and entered charter in October that year.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living Aboard
Denim's exterior is designed for pure enjoyment. The transom is mecnahically lowered to a spacious - 2 metre-wide swim platform, perfect for sunbathing and easy water access. A cockpit shower, complete with boutique Alix washes, offers a refreshing rinse after a dip, while a fold-out table is ready for your BBQ or bait board. Moving around is a breeze with easy access to decks on both sides of the dual wheels. The large solar paneled bimini with drop-down sides provides ample shade and protection from the weather for the cockpit, where refreshments are in easy reach from the cockpit fridge. Note re gallery images: the Bimini was installed after most photos were taken.
The combined solar generation is over 1200W, which keeps up with the boat's systems in most conditions. If it's cloudy there is a good chance you can collect rain water from the drains off the panels to save on watermaker usage. Denim's systems were designed with an understanding of the pressures of charter and the Bay of Islands style of cruising, which tends to self-catering while enjoying the natural paradise.
Inside, the saloon comfortably seats six around a generous dining table. The galley is a joy to use, featuring a 3-burner gas oven and an underbench fridge/freezer – perfect for whipping up delicious meals on the go. Just like on a catermaran, the saloon and cockpit are on the same level, working as one sheltered space to defy the limitations of a normal 38ft yacht.
Comfortable and Thoughtful Accommodation
Denim offers versatile sleeping arrangements with two quarter-berth cabins aft and a master forward. The quarter-berths provide ample double-bed space for adult couples or a cozy retreat for kids, with their own power plugs for charging devices and storage space.
A step down leads to two luxurious wet spaces: a large, separate wc with electric toilet, and an equally-sized shower room. This thoughtful design is a welcome move away from traditional all-in-one-bathroom layouts on board and a touch of luxury. To port you'll find the electrical control panel and extra storage, before moving forward to the inviting master cabin complete with two hanging lockers.
Uninterrupted Exploration
You'll never run out of resources aboard Denim. Water storage is replenished by the onboard watermaker, while the diesel tanks hold more fuel than any charter will ever need. Power is consistently maintained with the 1200W-plus in solar panel power complementing the engine's generation.
Effortless Performance and Stability
Denim's performance is guaranteed, coming as the design does from the drawing board of renowned yeach designer Greg Elliott. Apart from the Tourer range of which Denim is an example, Greg is best known for his performance sail boat designs. Indeed even his Tourers provide pace as well as comfort. The brief for the 1150 was for ease of handling and enjoyment to be top of the owner's list.
A self-tacking furler headsail combined with a battened main in a stack pack makes sailing a breeze. Sail controls, including a power-assisted winch with a Makita driver, are conveniently centered around the starboard helm station. Denim is easy to sail short-handed and incredibly stable, giving all the satisfaction of a high-performing yacht. From the helm, you'll have a clear view of the B&G instruments, chart plotter, and engine dials on the start/stop panel. When the wind drops or time is of the essence the 57hp engine will smoothly propel you forward.
Designed for Exceptional Chartering
Denim's design was commissioned by the owner of Sail Connections to his own brief, drawing on years of experience chartering modern production boats worldwide. The result is a customised monohull solution for family and small group chartering that meets all expectations.
We know you'll enjoy your time aboard Denim, and you'll also love chartering the stunning Bay of Islands and its surrounds.
