Costa Verde is generally regarded as one of the safest and most protected cruising grounds in South America.The extensive network of islands, bays and natural harbours provides shelter from ocean swell and creates relatively calm sailing conditions throughout much of the year. Navigation is primarily line-of-sight, daily sailing distances are often short, and there are numerous protected anchorages available.

As with any cruising destination, sailors should remain aware of local weather forecasts, fishing activity and navigational hazards, but overall the region is well suited to competent bareboat sailors and skippered charters alike.

Normal precautions should be taken ashore as in any international destination. Howver the region is well established as a sailing and tourism destination, popular with both Brazilian and international visitors.
