Yacht Charter FAQs

Is one week enough for a British Virgin Islands yacht charter?

A seven-night charter is sufficient to enjoy many of the highlights of the British Virgin Islands, which is one reason the destination is so popular for sailing holidays.

With most charters departing from Tortola, it is possible to visit several islands without undertaking long passages. Norman Island, Cooper Island, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke can all be included in a typical week, with time for swimming, snorkelling and exploring ashore.

However, there is no need to visit every major attraction. A more relaxed itinerary with additional time in favourite locations can be equally rewarding.

Anegada is often included in longer itineraries, although experienced crews may be able to visit during a seven-night charter when weather conditions and operator permissions allow.

Ten nights provides greater flexibility, while two weeks allows a particularly leisurely exploration of the island group.

For first-time visitors, a week is a very good introduction. Those who have already visited the BVI may prefer a longer charter to explore quieter locations and spend less time in the busiest anchorages.
