Yacht Charter FAQs

What facilities and provisions are available when chartering in Tonga?

Neiafu is the main centre for purchasing food, drinks and other supplies before departure. Local shops and markets offer fresh produce and everyday essentials, although imported products may be limited or relatively expensive compared with those in New Zealand or Australia.

Once away from Neiafu, opportunities for reprovisioning are much less frequent. Some islands have small resorts or restaurants where meals may be available by prior arrangement, but many anchorages have no facilities at all.

We recommend organising most provisions before departure, particularly for longer charters or those with specific dietary requirements. Your charter operator will advise on provisioning arrangements and what is available locally.
