Yacht Charter FAQs

Can I anchor overnight in the Balearic Islands?

The many calas, bays and sheltered stretches of coastline are a big part of the Balearic Islands' appeal, and spending the night at anchor can be one of the highlights of a charter.

However, anchoring isn't simply a matter of finding an attractive bay and dropping the hook. Parts of the Balearics have protected seabed and marine environments, and anchoring restrictions need to be observed. Mooring buoys or designated areas may be provided in environmentally sensitive locations.

Weather is equally important. An anchorage that is beautifully sheltered in one wind direction may become uncomfortable or unsuitable if conditions change.

Your charter operator will brief you on current local regulations, and you should always use up-to-date charts and local information when choosing where to spend the night.
