Where do Yacht Charters Start in Costa Verde?
Angra dos Reis is the region's largest charter hub with excellent marina facilities, provisioning services and easy access from both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Its location on the edge of Ilha Grande Bay places sailors immediately among hundreds of islands, secluded anchorages and sheltered cruising waters. That makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the wider Costa Verde region.
Further south and west, the historic colonial town of Paraty is also an important charter base, particularly for sailors seeking a more relaxed and culturally rich starting point. Surrounded by rainforest-covered mountains and a maze of tropical islands, Paraty combines excellent cruising opportunities with one of Brazil's best-preserved historic centres. Many charter itineraries conveniently include both Paraty and Angra dos Reis, while one-way charters between the two locations may also be available depending on the operator and season.
Both bases provide direct access to the protected waters of Ilha Grande Bay and the surrounding archipelagos, so charter guests can begin exploring the region's islands, beaches and anchorages shortly after departing the marina.
For visitors arriving internationally, both bases are within easy reach by road from Rio de Janeiro, to Angra dos Reis being the shorter trip. Private air and helicopter transfers can also be arranged.
