Alongside all the latest features now expected aboard a premium production catamaran, the Aura 51 places a strong emphasis on renewable energy and efficient long-range cruising. Flush-mounted solar panels integrated into the expansive flybridge roof surfaces generate up to 2 kilowatts of renewable power, helping reduce generator dependence while keeping onboard systems running comfortably at anchor.

Notably, the Aura 51 became one of the first catamarans in its size range to offer a true six-cabin layout, enabling accommodation for up to 12 guests: ideal for larger family groups, couples travelling together, or crewed charter arrangements.

Aura 51 Smart Electric – The Future of Charter Sailing

For now, most Aura 51 catamarans operating in charter fleets are fitted with the proven standard twin 60hp diesel engines. However, the Aura 51 Smart Electric is beginning to enter selected charter markets and is attracting considerable interest from environmentally conscious sailors. 

This fully electric version combines lithium battery storage, solar charging and hydro-generation technology to dramatically reduce emissions and fuel consumption. While sailing, the electric motors can regenerate energy through reverse-flow hydro-generation, with the boat capable of recharging its batteries over approximately 48 hours under sail. The system’s substantial 54 kWh lithium battery capacity enables:

• Motoring at around 5 knots for up to 5 hours in a 10-knot headwind
• Silent onboard living at anchor for up to a week without needing a generator
• Real-time onboard energy monitoring and management through advanced instrumentation systems
