The Lagoon 47 brings some clever changes to a size of catamaran that has long been a favourite with charter groups. Spacious enough for families and groups of friends, yet still a practical proposition for experienced bareboat sailors, this Lagoon puts even more emphasis on outdoor living and easy movement around the boat.
Perhaps the most noticeable feature is the new forward cockpit. At 12m², this is a substantial additional living area, reached directly from the saloon through a forward door. It makes the foredeck much more than somewhere to stretch out in the sun: it becomes another place to gather for breakfast, drinks or simply some quiet time at anchor. Combined with the aft cockpit and large flybridge above, there is an exceptional choice of separate social spaces for a catamaran of this size.
The flybridge is another strong point for chartering. As well as the helm station, there is generous seating, a coffee table and sun-lounging space, so the person on watch need not be separated from the rest of the group. Meanwhile, the open saloon and cockpit arrangement keeps the main living area practical and sociable for meals and evenings aboard.
Accommodation is offered in three or five-cabin configurations, with the five-cabin, five-head version particularly well suited to larger charter groups. Lagoon also offers a flexible "Smart Room" option that can serve as an additional cabin, workspace or utility space depending on the boat's configuration. Actual charter layouts and equipment will vary by operator.
Early reports also suggest that the Lagoon 47 retains a worthwhile sailing side to its character. Multihulls World found the boat responsive in relatively light conditions during its 2026 test. For charterers, that's an important consideration. Modern cruising catamarans provide tremendous living space, but part of the pleasure of a sailing holiday is still switching off the engines, setting sail and enjoying the journey between anchorages. The Lagoon 47 appears well equipped to deliver that balance of comfort and enjoyable cruising under sail.
For charterers, the Lagoon 47 looks particularly appealing for a group that wants plenty of personal space without moving up into the size and cost of the larger luxury catamarans. The combination of five-cabin charter layouts, multiple outdoor living areas and Lagoon's familiar cruising-cat approach should make this a very comfortable boat for longer stays aboard.
